Why Venicee
File transfer is not glamorous work. It is the quiet infrastructure behind deployments, backups, content updates, and day-to-day collaboration with servers. Most people who need it already have a tool — but too often that tool feels like it was designed twenty years ago and never quite caught up.
Venicee exists because that gap is still real. We wanted a secure, modern, and free FTP client where the experience actually matters: where connecting feels obvious, transfers feel dependable, and the interface stays out of your way instead of demanding attention.
Built for people who transfer files for real work
Venicee is aimed at developers, sysadmins, designers, and anyone else who moves files between a local machine and a remote server as part of ordinary work. Not as a hobby feature buried in a larger suite, and not as a product that nudges you toward a paid tier after the first connection.
The goal is straightforward: open the app, connect, transfer, and get back to what you were doing. Sensible defaults, a clear two-pane workspace, and settings that explain themselves without a manual.
UX-first, not feature-bloated
Many FTP clients accumulated menus, panels, and options over decades. Venicee takes the opposite approach. Clarity comes first — obvious site profiles, readable file lists, a transfer queue you can trust, and host-key prompts that tell you what changed instead of dumping cryptic warnings on screen.
Good UX here does not mean flashy. It means fewer wrong clicks, less time hunting for the right dialog, and less cognitive load when you are tired and just need a file on the server.
Free of charge, without a catch
Venicee has no subscriptions, no ads, and no paywalled features — now or later. File transfer is basic infrastructure; it should not be treated as a premium upsell.
The project is developed openly so anyone can download it, use it, and inspect how it works. If Venicee saves you time once a week, it has already done its job.
Swiss made, privacy-minded
Venicee is made in Switzerland. That is not marketing wallpaper — it reflects how the product is built. Connection settings, credentials, and transfer history stay on your device. There is no account to create, no cloud dashboard to opt out of, and no telemetry baked into normal use.
We believe you should be able to audit what the software does. The source code is available on GitHub, and releases ship with SHA-256 checksums so you can verify what you downloaded.

A modern client for modern expectations
“FTP client” still describes the job, but the expectations around it have moved on. Venicee supports SFTP and FTPS alongside classic FTP, verifies host keys and certificates before you trust a server, and stores saved passwords in an encrypted vault rather than plain text on disk.
It is a client for people who care about both how files move and how the tool feels while they move them.
